Question: Will standard 5.56mm magazines work with 6.8mm Rem. SPC rifles?Response: For total reliability you must use magazines designed for 6.8mm Rem. SPC ammo. Most 5.56mm magazines will not feed 6.8mm.
Question: Is the 6.8mm bolt the same as a 7.62X39 bolt?
Response: The 6.8mm bolt is caliber specific. The cartridge recess for the 6.8 is larger than the 5.56 and smaller than the 7.62x39.
Question: What parts of the 6.8mm rifle interchange with the 5.56mm rifle?
Response: The barrel, flash hider, bolt and magazine are not interchangeable between calibers. All other parts interchange. You may install a 5.56mm upper assembly and bolt, onto your 6.8mm lower, and using a 5.56mm magazine, fire 5.56mm ammo.
Question: What is the recoil like on a 6.8mm rifle?
Response: Compared to the quick, short slap of the 5.56mm, the recoil of the 6.8mm is a slower, longer, heavier push. Typical comments are “I feel the difference, but have the same control”.
Question: What is the status on 6.8mm ammunition?
Response: Rat Worx has factory loaded ammo available now. Reloading dies and bullets are in the distribution system now and are available. Reloading information is available on the web from some major suppliers now.
Question: I am from Illinois, and live near Mt. Morris; may I pick my rifle up directly from you?
Response: Yes, you may purchase and pick up your rifle directly from us. You will fill out a Form 4473 and pay sales tax, just like at a retail store. Call for details and appointment.
Question: May I visit your shop?
Response: Generally, No. We allow people who live nearby, to pick up rifles as a courtesy only.
Question: May I buy just a lower receiver?
Response: Yes, you may purchase just the lower receiver to properly ID your rifle as 6.8mm.
Question: I do not have a FFL, how do I buy a rifle from you?
Response: You may purchase rifles directly from Rat Worx, and pay with a credit card, or money order. Your rifle will then be shipped to a FFL holder in your state, who will then legally transfer the rifle to you. Most gun shops will transfer firearms for a small fee. Before we can ship the firearm, we must have a signed copy of the FFL holders license in our possession. The license should be signed in blue ink to avoid delays. The license will be checked for validity against the BATF website.
Question: Do you have “Dealer Pricing”?
Response: Yes, dealers should send a copy of their FFL and resale/tax exempt certificate to receive dealer information. Illinois dealers will need to complete a form CRT-61 for tax-exempt sales.
